5-year-old sworn in as ‘sheriff’

Countryside Woods — Clark County “Sheriff” Carter Harris, age 5, was one of 27 kids statewide who rode in a police motorcade in the Chief for a Day event Aug. 16.

The motorcade began at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field and ended at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in Burien. Then the kids were sworn in by their agency chief or sheriff and each child received a badge, a certificate and a hand-tailored uniform.

Chief for a Day is about celebrating the lives of children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening or chronic medical condition and providing them with memorable a day of fun.
