Clare Skies Ahead wins Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Clare Skies Ahead overtook Martita Sangrita in the stretch to win the $60,000 Omnibus Stakes by three-quarters of a length Saturday at Monmouth Park.

Ridden by Horacio Karamanos and trained by Flint Stites, the 5-year-old mare ran 1 3/8 miles over the firm turf course in 2:14 and returned $11.80, $5 and $3.20. It was the fourth win in 17 career starts for Clare Skies Ahead, who has earned $158,060.

Martita Sangrita returned $6.40 and $3.40, and Bianco Tartufo paid $3 to show.
