A smattering of steelhead were being caught before the local rivers went high, with the fish a mixture of summer and winter runs.
Streamflows Wednesday afternoon on the East Fork of the Lewis were 3,370 cubic feet per second (1,180 is average) and 11,500 cfs on the North Fork (7,400 is average).
The Washougal is running a high 5,000 cubic feet per second, but was dropping on Wednesday.

Cowlitz — Sixty-four bank rods with 10 steelhead kept; 26 bank rods with three steelhead kept and one cutthroat trout released. Flow at Mayfield Dam is a moderate- high 14,300 cfs.(WDFW)
