Louisiana Tech pulls away from Southern Miss 65-55

RUSTON, La. (AP) — Kenyon McNeail scored 18 points and five other players had seven or eight points to lead Louisiana Tech to a 65-55 victory over Southern Mississippi on Saturday night.

Michael Craig had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Eagles, and Jonathan Mills added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Louisiana Tech (8-2) had won seven in a row before a tough 89-83 road loss to Northwestern State on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs outscored the Golden Eagles (6-3) 20-11 from the free-throw line. Southern Miss outrebounded Louisiana Tech 46-30 but committed 23 turnovers and sent the Louisiana Tech to the line 34 times.

Louisiana Tech, which held a 24-23 halftime advantage, led by as many as eight points in the second half, but Jonathan Mills’ layup pulled Southern Miss to 38-37 with 10:44 left. The Bulldogs stretched it to 60-47 at 3:14 and cruised to the victory.
