ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Walter Offutt scored 14 points and D.J. Cooper recorded his 18th career double-double as Ohio overpowered Oakland 78-61 Saturday, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Nick Kellogg added 12 points while Reggie Keely and D.J. Cooper chipped in 10 apiece. Cooper also pulled down five boards and dished out 13 assists for Ohio (7-2), which had 21 assists as a team.
Ohio held Oakland (3-7) to 38.5 percent (10 of 26) shooting and scored 16 points off 11 Golden Grizzlies’ turnovers en route to a 39-29 halftime lead. The Bobcats shot 55.2 percent (16 of 29) in the second half and forced nine more turnovers to seal the win.
Oakland outrebounded Ohio 32-31 but the Bobcats outscored the Golden Grizzlies 40-20 in the paint.
Travis Bader, Oakland’s leading scorer on the season, scored 29 points but the Golden Grizzlies’ second-leading scorer Duke Mondy was held to 1-of-5 shooting.
