Davies leads BYU over Weber State 78-68

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Brandon Davies had a career-high 33 points and Tyler Haws added 23 points to lead BYU to a 78-68 victory against Weber State on Saturday night.

Davies shot 14 of 17 from the floor and had eight rebounds for the Cougars (7-3), who snapped Weber State’s 20-game home winning streak.

Davion Berry scored 25 points and Gelaun Wheelwright 12 for the Wildcats (4-3).

A 14-1 second -half run gave BYU permanent control. Davies and Cory Calvert had five points each during the surge while Weber State went 4:22 without a field goal. Calvert’s layup made it 65-50 with 6:01 remaining, and the Wildcats got no closer than 10 the rest of the way.

The Cougars shot 53.7 percent (29 of 54) from the floor.
