No. 5 Indiana to play without Hollowell again

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana freshman Jeremy Hollowell will miss his third straight game Friday night when No. 5 Indiana hosts Jacksonville.

Less than an hour before tip-off, the school issued a statement saying Hollowell would not play until “compliance issues” are resolved by the NCAA. It did not specify what issues the school or NCAA is looking into.

Indiana athletic director Fred Glass says Hollowell and his family raised the concerns and have fully cooperated with investigators.

Last week, coach Tom Crean said the Hoosiers (11-1) had kept Hollowell out of two blowouts because of personal issues.

Indiana has been short-handed all season for a variety of reasons, including injuries to forward Derek Elston, who missed nearly two months after knee surgery, and forward Austin Etherington, who has a season-ending dislocated kneecap.
