BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Nathan Healy scored 17 points and recorded a double-double to lead Appalachian State to an easy 71-51 victory over Milligan Sunday in a nonconference game.

While the Mountaineers raised their record to 4-8, Milligan (8-6), an NAIA team from Tennessee, played the game as an exhibition.

Healy, who grabbed 15 rebounds, helped Appalachian State take a 30-21 halftime lead. The Mountaineers then extended their lead throughout the second half to win by 20.

Tevin Baskin chipped in 15 points for Appalachian State and Jay Canty and Tab Hamilton added 10 points apiece.

Although 11 players scored for Milligan, Tyler DeVault was the only Buffalo in double figures with 12 points.

Appalachian State shot 38.4 percent from the floor (28 of 73). Milligan was 21 for 65 (32.2 percent). But the Mountaineers had a big edge inside. They outscored Milligan 36-22 in the paint and 22-7 on second-chance points.
