Tennessee Tech defeats Jacksonville State 76-68

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jud Dillard had 26 points and 12 rebounds and Kevin Murphy added 23 points as Tennessee Tech defeated Jacksonville State 76-68 Saturday to split the season series.

Dillard and Murphy came in as the No. 2 scoring duo in NCAA Division I, averaging a combined 39.8 points per game behind Damian Lillard and Scott Bamforth of Weber State (40.7 points).

Dillard was 9 of 13 and Murphy 10 of 17 from the field. Zac Swansey added 11 assists for the Golden Eagles (16-9, 8-4 Ohio Valley Conference), who have won three straight and five of their last six.

Leading 27-24, Tennessee Tech closed the half on a 10-5 run, then maintained a six-point cushion from there.

Tarvin Gaines scored 19 and Brian Williams 18 for the Gamecocks (10-16, 5-7), who came in having won four of their previous five, starting with a 63-62 win over Tennessee Tech on Jan. 19.
