Switching to a zone defense took Hockinson out of its offensive rhythm as W.F. West won the 2A district tournament game.

Hockinson now faces a loser-out contest game against Tumwater on Wednesday.

Hockinson led 32-22 at halftime, but W.F. West brought a zone defense out for the second half.

“That pressure got to us,” Hockinson coach Matt Gruhler said. “Give them credit. They made the big shots and we didn’t.”

In the third quarter, Hockinson was 2 for 10 from the field and missed its only two free-throws. The end results was a 38-36 W.F. West going into the fourth quarter.

Hayden Hall led Hockinson in scoring with 18 points and six rebounds. Justin Schauer had 12 points.
