Pennsylvania defeats Columbia 61-59 in overtime

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Fran Dougherty made a layup off a three-quarter court alley-oop pass with 1 second remaining in overtime and Pennsylvania edged Columbia 61-59 on Saturday night.

Penn swept the season series, winning each game by two points, and has beaten Columbia in three of its past four meetings.

The Quakers (15-11, 7-2 Ivy League), scored the first five points in overtime to take a 59-54 lead, but Brian Barbour tied the game for Columbia with two free throws with 4 seconds remaining.

Zach Rosen, who led the Quakers with 14 points, hit 1 of 2 free throws with 2 seconds left in regulation to extend the game. Steve Rennard added 13 points for Penn.

Penn made 10 of 19 3-pointers, with Rosen and Rennard each making three.

Meiko Lyles scored 17 points, Mark Cisco added 12 and Alex Rosenberg 10 for the Lions (14-12, 3-7), who have lost three straight.
