2-hour rash of accidents in Washington County

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — The Washington County sheriff’s office says deputies were busy with three accidents in a two-hour period Monday evening involving two bike riders and a pedestrian. One of the bike riders was critically injured.

The rash of accidents began with a pedestrian in a crosswalk struck by a car making a turn. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver was cited for failing to yield.

A hit-and-run driver struck a bike rider at another intersection. She suffered serious injuries. Deputies later found the car and arrested the driver.

Deputies say the other bike rider had been drinking and suddenly turned off a sidewalk into traffic where he was hit. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries The driver was not at fault.
