McEachin leads Norfolk State over Longwood 66-52

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Chris McEachin scored 21 points and led Norfolk State’s go-ahead run in a 66-52 victory over Longwood on Monday night.

The Spartans (19-9) trailed 29-24 with 51 seconds left in the first half and made it a three-point game on Jamel Fuentes’ jumper with 30 seconds to go. Norfolk State then opened the second half by scoring 18 straight.

McEachin, who was 5 of 11 on 3-pointers, made three during the spurt, in which he added a free throw.

The Spartans shot 40 percent from the field (24 of 60) and outrebounded the Lancers 43-35.

Marcos Tamares added 20 points and Kyle O’Quinn had 16 rebounds for Norfolk State.

Longwood (9-18) was led by Antwan Carter with 19 points and 11 rebounds. On his jumper with 1:04 left, Carter became Longwood’s all-time leading scorer with 1,808 points. He passed Kevin Jefferson, who reached 1,806 in 1990.
