PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A man and his dog were injured in a house fire early Monday in Portland.

Police told firefighters the man may have re-entered his burning home to rescue his pet.

Portland Fire and Rescue says firefighters found the man outside the home with burns to his hands and arms. He was taken to the Legacy Oregon Burn Center.

The dog, a German shepherd-mix named Cleo, was treated by firefighters with a pet-oxygen mask. The dog was taken to a pet hospital by a neighbor.
