Fort Vancouver’s Mar’Shay Moore had the game of her life on Tuesday night. But thanks to a big night by Carly Holboke, it wasn’t enough for a victory.

Holboke scored 39 points as the Mountain View girls basketball team finished with a 13-1 run to beat Fort 66-58 in overtime Tuesday despite 47 points from Moore.

“We tried a box-and-one, double teaming, we threw a zone and her, man-to-man,” Mountain View coach John McCausland said. “It didn’t matter what we did, she kept throwing them up and making them. He hit two 3-pointers that banked in from 26 feet out. It was a pretty impressive night for her.”

With Moore carrying the scoring load for Fort, the Trappers led 57-53 with 1:40 left in the fourth quarter. Emma DuChesne hit a 3-pointer — her lone three points of the game — to cut the margin to 57-56.

After a Fort free throw pushed the margin to 58-56, Bailey Gaspar made two free throws to tie the game and send it to overtime.

The Thunder outscored Fort 8-0 in overtime with Holboke scoring four points.

“Carly had a very nice game,” McCausland said. “She was little cold early. But we were able to get some steals, which led to lay-ups by Carly. And she hit some big 3-pointers to keep us in the game.”

The win was the first in Class 3A Greater St. Helens League play for Mountain View (3-5, 1-1). Fort Vancouver remained winless at 0-10, 0-3.
