MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Marcus Brister’s layup with 12 seconds left propelled Southeast Missouri State to a 73-71 win over Tennessee-Martin on Thursday night, keeping the Redhawks undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Trailing 66-65, Myles Taylor scored six straight points to push the Skyhawks back ahead at 71-70 with 2:21 to play. But the Redhawks (8-7, 3-0) took over from there, as Waylon Jones’ foul shot evened the game at 71, setting up Brister’s game-winning drop-in.

UT-Martin didn’t score in the final 2 minutes, as the Redhawks’ defense forced three missed shots at the Skyhawks’ end.

The Skyhawks blew a 44-35 halftime lead.

Nick Niemczyk and Tyler Stone scored 16 points apiece to lead the Redhawks. Marland Smith added 12 points and Brister finished with 11.

Mike Liabo scored a game-high 18 points to lead UT-Martin (3-14, 0-4).
