CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Saah Nimley scored 24 points to lead Winthrop to a 77-66 victory over Charleston Southern Saturday night in a Big South Conference game.

Nimley had ample help from fellow freshman guard Arlon Harper, who’d scored 28 points in Charleston Southern’s previous game, a 93-88 upset of UNC Asheville. This time, Harper scored 19 points, including four 3-point baskets. Nimley also made four treys and scored half his points at the foul line, sinking 12 of 14 free throws for the Buccaneers (13-7, 6-3).

Andre Jones, the leading scorer for Winthrop (8-13, 5-5) led all scorers with 26 points. He hit 11 of 19 field goal attempts. Reggie Middleton was the only other Eagle in double figures with 15 points.

Winthrop, which had won its previous two games, trailed 38-30 at the break. The Eagles were undone by their poor performance from beyond the 3-point arc, hitting 2 of 15 treys.
