Mount Adams memories to be shared
HOOD RIVER — Hiker-photographer Darryl Lloyd will share his stories and memories about Mount Adams beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Springhouse Cellar, 13 Railroad Ave.
Lloyd grew up in Glenwood and started hiking and climbing the peak as a 6-year-old in the late 1940s. His talk is part of a series entitled “Sense of Place.’’
A $5 donation is suggested.
Wildlife League meets Wednesday
The Vancouver Wildlife League will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, 2108 Grand Blvd.
Chris White, manager of the Bob Oke Game Farm in Centralia, will explain the raising of pheasants for the state’s Western Washington hunting program.
The public is welcome.
European ski film screening on Friday
PORTLAND — A new film that was selected as the best European film of the International Free-skiing Film Festival will be screened beginning at 7:15 p.m. Friday at the Mazamas Mountaineering Center, 527 S.E. 43rd Ave.
The screening is a fund-raiser for the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center. Tickets cost $5 for Mazamas members in advance, $8 for non-members in advance and $10 at the door.
The film was done by Field Productions of Norway. It features athletes like World Cup star and Olympic gold medalist Aksel Lund Svindal.
The Mazamas are a non-profit mountaineering education organization.
The avalanche center is a group of mountain meteorologists and avalanche specialists on duty during winter.
