NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Mike Myers Keitt hit two free throws with 14.7 seconds left in overtime to lift Monmouth (N.J.) to a 58-56 victory over Central Connecticut State on Thursday night in Northeast Conference action.

The Hawks (5-17, 3-6), who came in having lost five of their last six, were coming off an 81-73 overtime loss to Robert Morris. Monmouth hit 3 of 3 from the field and 4 of 5 free throws in the extra period.

The game was tied eight times in regulation before Dion Nesmith’s 3-pointer for the Hawks with 20 seconds left tied it at 48, forcing overtime.

With Monmouth ahead 56-52, Joe Efese’s jumper and two free throws by Ken Horton tied it. After Myers Keitt’s foul shots, the Blue Devils couldn’t score again.

Jesse Steele’s 12 points and Nesmith’s 11 led Monmouth.

Horton had 16 points and 11 rebounds to pace CCSU, which has lost two straight.
