Here we go again. It’s that time of the year when the anti-fireworks crowd crawls out of the woodwork to spew forth their rhetoric.
Leave it up to their mouthpiece, The Columbian, to aid in advancing their agenda. I find it rather suspicious that The Columbian would choose to print so many anti-fireworks opinions and columns, including the front page story, “When fireworks stir memories of war,” of the June 28 Clark County section. The anti-fireworks people are a very vocal bunch, yet try as The Columbian will to convince us otherwise, they are a particularly small minority.
Last I checked, the watchword for this country is “majority rules.” I applaud the Vancouver City Council in defeating the proposal to further limit our freedom to celebrate the anniversary of this glorious nation’s founding, and encourage my fellow American Vancouverites to join me in celebrating our freedom under “the rockets’ red glare” and “the bombs bursting in air.”
