LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The United States has withdrawn its bid to host the World Equestrian Games in 2018.

The International Equestrian Federation says organizers of the bid from Wellington, Fla., pulled out “due to a change in local government” ahead of candidates’ meetings this week.

The FEI says the three bid cities remaining in the contest are Bromont, Canada; Rabat, Morocco; and Vienna.

The US hosted the event in 2010 at Lexington, Ky., staging world championships in eight disciplines.

The 2014 event will be held in Normandy, France.
