Bob Tasca tops Funny Car field

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — Bob Tasca topped Funny Car qualifying Friday in the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals with a run of 4.063 seconds at 310.48 mph in the second session.

Antron Brown led the Top Fuel competition, and Tennessee native Allen Johnson had the Pro Stock lead.

Brown set both ends of the Top Fuel track record during his second qualifying attempt under the lights at Bristol Dragway, finishing in 3.814 seconds at 323.12 mph.

Johnson set a time record in the factory hot rod class at 6.623 seconds.
