Letter: Excitement is part of celebration

The Columbian
Published: June 29, 2012, 5:00pm

I have read most of the articles in the paper about banning fireworks or dumbing them down to be like Oregon. I have never had a problem with fireworks and I am 57 years old. Whenever we shoot off fireworks around the Fourth of July, we make sure that we have buckets of water around and the hose is ready. We have never had a problem.

I get a little irritated with people wanting to ban them or make them dull like some other states have. If they are careful and use caution and are prepared, they shouldn’t be having these problems. If they want fireworks that aren’t as exciting, then they should go someplace to where they have less-exciting fireworks.
