Vancouver — Construction will close the state Highway 500/St. Johns Boulevard intersection for two nights next week as crews install 700 tons of concrete girders.

Washington State Department of Transportation workers will close both roads at 7:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday evenings. St. Johns and the westbound lanes of Highway 500 will open by 5:30 a.m. the following mornings. The eastbound lanes of the highway will open at 7 a.m., according to WSDOT.

Crews will close Highway 500 between Interstate 5 and Falk Road. St. Johns will be closed from East 33rd Street and Northeast Petticoat Lane. Marked detours will be in place both nights, and crews will keep local access open to homes and businesses, according to WSDOT.

The girder installation marks a key step in the construction of a new bridge over the highway.
