Young Red Cross leader wins volunteer awards

Mountain View — Kenny Kim, a senior at Mountain View High School, has won the Prudential Certificate of Excellence for his volunteer service. He also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award and a letter of congratulations from President Barack Obama. Kim is president of the Southwest Washington Red Cross Youth Council and leader of the Mountain View Red Cross Club. He leads youth activities in support of Red Cross disaster services, blood services and services for the armed forces. He has also worked on a measles initiative, raising funds to provide measles vaccines to children in developing countries. He also helped prepare the agenda of a leadership development conference for high school students, which was held last weekend at Columbia River High School.
