EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — The Navy says the aircraft carrier Nimitz will arrive at its new home port in Everett on Friday.

It’s been undergoing sea trials since leaving Bremerton on Monday, following a year-long, $239 million overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

The Daily Herald reports (http://is.gd/z0lTqz ) the families of many of the 3,000 sailors have moved to Snohomish County. The Nimitz replaces the Lincoln, which left Naval Station Everett in December on deployment and then a lengthy refueling of its nuclear reactors at a shipyard in Virginia.

Two aircraft carriers remain at Bremerton. The USS Stennis returned to its home port last Friday from a seven-month deployment. And, the Ronald Reagan is starting an overhaul at the shipyard.
