A Woodland man was not injured Thursday after his small plane flipped upon landing at an airport in Kelso, according to Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue.

The man’s aircraft, a 1979 single engine Skyhawk II Cessna 172, sustained only minor damage when a strong crosswind during landing caused it to overturn, a fire district bulletins said.

The pilot said that he had unsuccessfully tried to correct the crosswind by ascending. His name was not released.
