CRESCENT LAKE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a 28-year-old man was armed with a knife when he held an ex-girlfriend hostage in a cabin at Crescent Lake in Klamath County.

Police also say Alberto Quiroz Martinez used her as a shield Tuesday when they left the cabin during a standoff.

A SWAT team member shot Martinez. He was treated at a Bend hospital for a superficial head wound and booked into the Deschutes County Jail for a parole violation.

Charges are pending in Klamath County and also Umatilla County where the 26-year-old Hermiston woman was taken. She was not harmed.
