La Center — The Great Spinning Wheel was going round and round all day on April 21 as Barbara Sizemore wove tales of spinning history while twisting fibers into thread. Sizemore was taking part in the La Center Historical Museum’s “Spin-In,” a celebration of all things spinning and textile, and she used the museum’s 120-year-old wheel as well as numerous other wheels and tools to show off techniques. Also on hand was Dolores Dougherty, who used a portable, modern spinning wheel that boasts multiple gears and other bells and whistles. The museum is planning more spinning and textile exhibits this year.
