Blackpool advances to Championship playoff final

BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — Blackpool will play West Ham on May 19 at Wembley for a spot in the Premier League after tying 2-2 at Birmingham on Wednesday night in the second leg of their League Championship playoff semifinal to advance on 3-2 aggregate.

Blackpool held a 1-0 edge from the first leg and increased its lead on goals by Stephen Dobbie in the 45th minute and Matt Phillips in the 48th.

Nikola Zigic scored in the 64th and captain Curtis Davies in the 73rd for Birmingham, but the hosts could not complete the comeback.

American defender Jonathan Spector, back from a thigh injury, started for Birmingham for the first time since March 10 but came out in the 44th minute.
