DUESSELDORF, Germany (AP) — Fortuna Duesseldorf will return to the Bundesliga for the first time since 1996-96, beating Hertha Berlin on 4-3 aggregate with a 2-2 tie Tuesday night to win the promotion-relegation playoff.

Hertha Berlin was relegated to the second division for next season.

The game was held up twice as fans threw flares onto the field, and there was a 20-minute delay in injury time when fans ran onto the field.

Maximilian Beister put Duesseldorf ahead in the first minute, but Aenis Ben-Hatira tied it in the 22nd. Ben-Hatira was ejected for a second yellow card in the 54th, Ranisav Jovanovic put Duesseldorf ahead five minutes later and Raffael scored for Hertha with five minutes remaining.

Greuther Fuerth and Eintracht Frankfurt earned automatic promotion, while Cologne and Kaiserslautern also were relegated.
