INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Halo Dolly beat Sugarinthemorning by 2 1/2 lengths in the $71,750 Fran’s Valentine Stakes for California-bred fillies and mares on Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Halo Dolly ran a mile on the turf in 1:34.82 and paid $5.40, $2.60 and $2.20. Talamo picked up the mount after jockey Joel Rosario returned to the Dominican Republic after the death of his brother a day earlier.

Sugarinthemorning returned $2.20 and $2.10, while Camille C was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.40 to show.

Halo Dolly has 10 wins in 18 career starts and earnings of $361,780.

It was Talamo’s second stakes victory of the weekend. He won the $150,000 Marjorie L. Everett Handicap on Saturday with Me Out.

Halo Dolly is co-owned by Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who won the $100,000 Railbird Stakes on Saturday with Via Villaggio.

Rafael Bejarano rode four winners on the card, including three in a row in the second, third and fourth races.
