Now that the elections are over, I want to address a dangerous practice that candidates (and schools) often use to get attention. I do not understand why people are allowed to stand at the busiest intersections and distract drivers. A pedestrian is going to get hit in a crosswalk, or a rear-ender is going to happen, by a distracted driver who is looking at a sign being waved either on the sidewalk or (often) into the lane of traffic in front of vehicles.
A vote cannot be worth a person getting killed. If someone is killed due to sign-waving, I would expect that the lawsuits against that candidate or school district would be quick and expensive. And rightfully so. I believe this practice should be stopped immediately.
