Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tops Texas Lutheran 60-49

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Will Nelson and Johnathan Jordan scored 13 points each to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 60-49 victory in its season opener against Texas Lutheran on Saturday night.

Nelson had nine rebounds for the Islanders.

Troy Griffith and Justin Lindsey scored 10 points each for Texas Lutheran, a Division III school in Seguin, Texas, that classified the game as an exhibition.

The Bulldogs trailed just 39-37 with 10:27 remaining, but Cole Martinez hit a 3-pointer to ignite a 13-1 run that gave the Islanders control. Jordan had six points during the surge.
