SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (AP) — After Brandon Venturini missed a free throw with 4 seconds to go, failing to give his team a 1-point lead, Carl Blair sprinted down the court and sunk a last-second lay-up off a fast break opportunity to give Prairie View a 42-40 win at the buzzer over Navy on Friday afternoon.

Jourdan DeMuynck recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Prairie View A&M (3-4). Blair had nine points and six assists while Jules Montgomery had six points and 11 rebounds.

Navy (2-4) led 24-15 at the break but the Panthers overcame the nine-point deficit to take a 38-37 lead with 2:47 to go, their first lead since Demondre Chapman made it 2-0. Prairie View completed a 27-16 second-half run to earn the victory. The Panthers outscored Navy 24-12 inside the paint.

Venturini was the leading scorer for Navy with seven points.
