Weekly junior hockey report 11/30

Portland Winterhawks

This week: Host Seattle at 7 p.m. today at the Rose Garden; visit Everett, 7:05 p.m. on Saturday; host Everett at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Veterans Memorial Coliseum; host Tri-City at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Rose Garden.

Last week: beat visiting Kootenay 4-2; won 8-2 at Seattle.

Where they stand: At 20-4-1-0, the Winterhawks have 41 points from 25 games. They are in first place in the U.S. Division, six points up on Spokane. In the Canadian Hockey League top-10, Portland is ranked third behind top-rated Halifax of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Kamloops.

On a roll: The Winterhawks have won four straight games, outscoring opponents 20-6. Portland has won 16 of its last 17 games.

Leipsic honored: Brendan Leipsic was named the WHL player of the week for his play in three games in the week ending Nov. 25. Leipsic had three goals and six assists and a plus-5 rating over that stretch. Over the last month, Leipsic has a 13-game point streak, including 11 consecutive multi-point games. Leipsic has 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points over the last 13 games.

Vancouver Vipers

This week: Vancouver at Tri-City Outlaws, 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

Last week: Lost to visiting Tri-City 10-1.

Where they stand: At 2-13, Vancouver is last in the six-team Northern Pacific Hockey League.
