OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Visionary Ruler took the lead early and ran off with the $60,000 Jersey Juvenile Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday, beating Dancing Lion by 1 3/4 lengths.

Trained by Bret Calhoun and ridden by Chuck C. Lopez, the 2-year-old colt ran six furlongs over the fast track in 1:12.46 and returned $9.40, $5.40 and $3.20. It was the second win in three career starts for Visionary Ruler, who broke his maiden in his last race at Monmouth Park in August.

Dancing Lion returned $12 and $5, and Irish Politics paid $2.60 to show.
