An early-morning fire destroyed a house Tuesday near the upper Washougal River in Skamania County, according to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported around 5 a.m. at 51 Tree-ific Drive, which is about 15 miles northeast of Washougal, Undersheriff Dave Cox said. The house was unoccupied, Cox said.

The North Bonneville Fire Department, East County Fire & Rescue, Washington Department of Natural Resources and Skamania County fire districts 4 and 5 responded to the blaze. Skamania County EMS and deputies with the sheriff’s office also responded.

“The home was a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation,” Cox said in a release.

The house is a summer home owned by Karen Fitzsimmons of Vancouver, the sheriff’s office said.
