2A GSHL football: Hockinson 28, R.A. Long 20

Hockinson rushed for 266 yards to earn its first 2A Greater St. Helens League as Thomas Kirschenbaum rushed for 95 yards and teammate Jacob Reagan had 88 yards.

“The last two, three weeks we hadn’t been able to run the ball,” Hockinson coach Rick Steele said. “We knew it would be messy tonight, so we worked on the run all week. And we were able to move the ball on the ground and that was the difference.”

In the final four minutes of the game R.A. Long’s Eric Rosellini returned a kickoff for a 50 yard touchdown but failed at a two-point conversion to make the score 21-20.

Kirschenbaum rushed 35 yards for a touchdown to seal the win for the Hawks.
