FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Safeties Patrick Chung and Steve Gregory are inactive for the New England Patriots, leaving them without two key starters against the New York Jets.

Gregory missed his third straight game with a hip injury Sunday. Chung, who started all six previous games, hurt his right shoulder a week earlier in a 24-23 loss at the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots entered the day allowing the fifth-most yards passing in the NFL.

Also inactive for the Patriots are starting left guard Logan Mankins with calf and hip problems, running back Brandon Bolden, linebacker Tracy White and defensive linemen Jake Bequette and Ron Brace.

Backup running back Joe McKnight was active for the Jets despite an injured ankle. New York’s inactives are safety Eric Smith, defensive tackles Sione Po’uha and Kenrick Ellis, wide receiver Clyde Gates, running back Bilal Powell, guard Caleb Schlauderaff and quarterback Greg McElroy.
