The Vancouver Clinic hosts diabetes week events

The Vancouver Clinic’s Endocrinology Department is participating and hosting events next month as part of Pacific Northwest Diabetes Week.

The Chris Dudley Foundation is sponsoring Pacific Northwest Diabetes Week, which runs from Nov. 10 to Nov. 16.

The week kicks off Nov. 10 with health screenings, healthy eating tips, diabetes education, music, food and sports clinics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rose Garden in Portland.

The Vancouver Clinic will sponsor a diabetes fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 at its 87th Avenue location, 700 N.E. 87th Ave. The fair will feature diabetes information provided by diabetes nurse educator Kelly Slater and a visit from former NBA player Chris Dudley from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The week will wrap up with a food preparation demonstration with “Diabetes Chef” Chris Smith. The demonstration is from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at The Vancouver Clinic. Register for the demonstration by calling 360-882-2778 ext. 2248.

The Vancouver Clinic also hosts an ongoing free diabetes support group from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the 87th Avenue location.
