CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Demarcus Rouse scored three touchdowns and Lance Byrd rushed for 109 yards to lead Presbyterian to a 45-10 victory against Brevard College in the season opener for both teams. It was the first meeting between the teams.

The Blue Hose’s Michael Ruff took the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown.

Byrd surpassed 2,000 career yards rushing, the first player in Blue Hose history to reach that mark as a Football Championship Series member (Big South). The senior ran the ball 13 times and brought his career total to 2,058 yards.

Brevard quarterback Aaron Reese was 9 for 15 for 81 yards and a touchdown. Eric Watts caught the Tornados’ touchdown pass, and his 68 receiving yards extended his school record. Watts also punted seven times for a 42.3-yard average. He was the South Atlantic Conference leader last season and was all-conference as a receiver and a punter.
