This afternoon, at 4:14 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to I-5 northbound, just prior to the Macadam Avenue off-ramp on the report of a motorcyclist down on the freeway.

Medical personnel arrived and transported the motorcycle rider to a Portland hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team is responding to the scene to conduct an investigation.

I-5 northbound traffic is substantially delayed from the Terwilliger Boulevard exit to the Ross Island Bridge exit. One lane is now open.

Northbound I-5 commuters are encouraged to use Barbour Boulevard or Taylors Ferry to Macadam Avenue as alternate routes.
