Workshop addresses protecting children

YWCA Clark County will hold a free workshop on protecting children from sexual assault from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the community room at 3609 Main St. as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Topics include:

• Who are offenders and why do they offend.

• Grooming tactics used by offenders.

• Problems with traditional prevention programs.

• Talking to children about abuse.

• Creating practical family rules.

• Responding to sex-abuse disclosure and reporting child abuse.

Cory Jewell Jensen, co-director for the Center for Behavioral Intervention, will lead the workshop.
