Fire destroyed an outbuilding and threatened to spread to an adjacent house in east Vancouver on Monday evening.

Vancouver firefighters were dispatched at 6:02 p.m. to 16800 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., where crews found a 20-by-30-foot outbuilding ablaze, said Capt. Scott Willis.

Firefighters attacked the fire and sprayed water on a nearby house to keep it from catching fire. The outbuilding was a total loss, Willis said.

Eastbound lanes were closed on Fourth Plain Boulevard at Northeast 162nd Avenue while westbound traffic was detoured through a church parking lot, clogging traffic.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating this incident.
