VanMall — The Fort Vancouver Regional Library District formally unveiled its new library in the Westfield Vancouver mall April 6 with a ribbon-cutting celebration. Nearly 100 came out for the grand opening, which featured a special appearance by the library district’s mascot, Sophie the Otter. The new “Mall Library Connection” replaces the former Vancouver Mall Community Library, and is also located on the second-level of Westfield Vancouver, 8700 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive. A “soft launch” preceded the official opening. The prior library closed in December for a makeover.
