Long-shot Becky Lou wins feature at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Becky Lou won the $58,000 feature for 3-year-old fillies by a nose as a 32-1 long shot in her U.S. debut at Santa Anita on Thursday.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, Becky Lou ran a mile on the turf in 1:34.41 and paid $66.20, $25.40 and $9.60.

Lilbourne Eliza returned $12.20 and $7.40, while Macha was another 112 lengths back in third and paid $3.20 to show. Pussycat Lips, the 8-5 favorite, finished seventh.

The victory, worth $34,800, increased Becky Lou’s career earnings to $54,796. She had been idle since Nov. 3 at Newmarket, England, where she finished eighth and last in a minor stakes race.
