One person was killed and another seriously injured early Saturday in a single-vehicle accident in east Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department.
The crash was reported about 1:58 a.m. near Southeast McGillivray Boulevard and Olympia Drive. Officers arriving on scene found that a Ford F-150 pickup had crashed into a tree and light pole, a VPD bulletin said.
Two females were inside the vehicle. One had died, and the other had life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, police said.
The name and ages of the two females were not released pending notification of next of kin and the ongoing investigation, police said
The crash is being investigated by the Vancouver Police Traffic Unit.
The VPD bulletin said excessive speed and possibly alcohol were factors in the crash.
McGillivray Boulevard was closed in both directions from Olympia Drive to Southeast 140th Avenue. Police said the street would remain closed as the investigation continued.
