SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Qushchi rallied in the final sixteenth-mile and won the $100,000 Waya Stakes for fillies and mares by 134 lengths on the turf Monday at Saratoga Race Course.
Edgar Prado rode the 5-year-old, who raced for most of her career in England and is now trained by the British-born Graham Motion. She ran 112 miles over firm ground in 2:27.21 and earned $60,000 for owner Andrew Stone.
Qushchi paid $10.40, $4.90 and $3.20. Runner-up Anjaz paid $5.30 and $4.10. Mystical Star, third of seven, returned $3.40 to show.
