It took Vancouver police about a half-hour to arrest a man suspected in an armed robbery of the El Presidente restaurant in downtown Vancouver on Sunday night.

Sgt. Mike Davis said Adam Thomas, 31, of Vancouver was arrested near Todd Road and 18th Street for suspicion of first-degree robbery and an outstanding warrant.

Thomas said that he did not hold up the restaurant at 312 E. Evergreen Blvd., Davis said, but that he simply refused to pay his $20 bill, showed a knife and ran.

He also left his identification at the restaurant, Davis said.

The incident happened at 8:13 p.m. and the arrest was made at 8:43 p.m.

Thomas was taken to the Clark County Jail.
